oh how i was wrong, so wrong.
ya sure back home we had parades.. the ones where there were lots of high school bands and all those old men that were somehow really important to our city but i had never even heard of them before. and by the time the parade actually got to my families camp out spot we were more interested in the doughnuts my dad just brought over than the actual parade going on.
ill tell you one thing about mardi gras. nobody was anywhere close to thinking about doughnuts. they had something much more important on their minds. BEADS. millions and millions of beads.
let me try and paint you a picture in your minds... the very first float of the night was a big white truck. but wait as the truck got closer i realized it was pulling a trailer, oh not a trailer.. there was actually a half man half horse dancing on the back of it. and BAM.
what a perfect introduction to completely sell me on this whole idea. the Krew of Centaur was here to party. Centaur himself even showed up, how nice of him. As i looked to my right and to my left i saw the crowd start to go wild, they were breaking it down like our high school drill team used to at half time... times ten. But the most interesting part was that i started seeing these weird contraptions. There was laundry baskets strapped to the end of a broom stick, umbrellas popped inside out, kids with buckets tied to hats on their tiny little heads.. youd think money was about to fall straight from heaven.
and thats when the floats started coming, hands down the most elaborate things ive ever seen. purples and greens and golds.. not only one, but two threee stories high. The people in the floats were even more decorated, their costumes were unlike anything i could imagine. i knew i had to get in on this. ill never forget my first set of beads. it played in slow motion... i was dancing, well trying, and we made eye contact, i saw him pick up a whole stack of beads and point straight to me. i knew he needed one final reason why i deserved those precious things in his hands. so i did what i had to do.. i copied what the two year old next to me kept saying, please mister throw me some beeds. they flew into the air and perfectly into my little hands. around my neck it went with all the pride ive ever felt.
I have to admit, the best part of this whole adventure was that i saw grown men and woman fighting tooth and nail for what wasnt really gold from heaven... but plastic worth maybe half a penny.but they were sparkly, and they were important.
thank you louisiana, for continually showing me how happy the little things should make me.

I'm still alive. And yes, Louisiana does have cell coverage and Internet service.
Its been months since I've updated. And I'm only doing this for my mom sisters and you Simone.
After a 3 day 26 hour journey.. We made it to Shreveport, Louisiana. And man is this place awesome! But seriously, I love it. I love that the girl in front of me at church Sunday could get away with wearing an LSU snuggie allll of church with noone saying anything .
I love that the man that bore his testimony said the last time he heard singing that good was behind prison bars! But don't you worry ... Cause he's glad he ain't there anymore! Oh and Jesus amen.
I love that I am one hundred percent the minority here." I am a Mormon. ya know? Lds? Uhhh we love Jesus too."
I love that I attend baptist bible study every Tuesday from 2-3 with the girls I work with. And we hold hands in a circle to pray.
I love that when people ask, I have to say no I don't drink wine, or beer, or even sweet tea.. Only dr pepper.
I loveeeee blue bell ice cream.
I love that my momma misses me.
I love my new husband. I love being a part of the place and people and food that raised him.
But most of all, I love how I see more clearly the hand of my heavenly father in my every day life. Pushing me, helping me, and molding me into the person I need to become.
God is good. Oh so good.
Ps. Momma I miss you too.

127 hours

-we saw this movie on thanksgiving. I can honestly say it was the most intense thing I've ever seen. I couldn't stop saying the whole movie that this was actually real. I just couldn't believe it. I don't know if I could do the same thing if I were ever in that kind of situation. We just left the theater shaking our heads shocked. It even makes me cringe writing about it now. So powerful. So so powerful.

New. Favorite. Food

K honestly.. People have been saying this for days, but we finally tried it out and I am in love. I love the smashfries, I love the chicken avacado sandwich, and I LOVE the fried pickles. Fried pickles have been my new obsession since the last louisiana trip and these one are soo good . If you haven't tried it yet.. I suggest you do ASAP!
Oh ya. And netflix... We jumped on that bandwagon too. SUPER LEGIT!

My new home.
Goodbye Utah.
Hello Shreveport, Louisiana.
I'm not joking.
At all.
My soon to be husband (man I like the sound of that) is heading back home for nursing school. And since I'm his soon to be wifey, I'm part of that package deal.
In all seriousness. I am stoked. I have lived in Provo Utah my whole life. And getting away from these winters may be one of the biggest perks. Plus we get to go through that whole depending on each other stuff everyone keeps talking about. And hopefully I get a little accent. And hopefully not gain 100 lbs off that food. Fried? Totally normal to be in front of every food group.
Oh ya and we found an apartment. We are renting the green one.

Hahahahahhahaha just kidding.
